The Initiation Handbook provides additional guidance for the set-up for O∆K ceremonies, and it also offers alternative language for the opening and closing. Download the Initiation Handbook.
Sing “We’re Proud to be ODK”
Omicron Delta Kappa has an official song that may be sung at initiations, circle installation ceremonies, and regular meetings. “We’re Proud to be ODK,” music and lyrics written by Sally Albrecht and chorus written by Carl Bolte, celebrates our organization’s history, mission, and members. A full performance of the song may be heard by clicking below.
Omicron Delta Kappa was the first college honor society of a national scope to give recognition and honor for meritorious leadership and service in extracurricular activities and to encourage development of general campus citizenship. Through membership in OΔK, you enter the ranks of more than 300,000 women and men whose peers recognize them as scholars and leaders. To be considered for membership, please fill out the following form and submit to your institution’s OΔK Circle Coordinator. Please note that this form, payment of membership fees and participation in an induction ceremony are all prerequisites for membership in Omicron Delta Kappa. This membership application form is only one component of the membership selection process. Please contact your local circle officers about deadlines and other possible additional circle requirements.
Engaging First and Second Year Students
Circles are encouraged to connect with first and second year students to make them aware of Omicron Delta Kappa. Recognition of emerging leaders, providing leadership development programs, and including underclassmen in select circle events are all appropriate activities. Circles, however, should be cautious in involving first and second year students in any activities which may be seen as “pledging” before earning full membership in OΔK. Omicron Delta Kappa prohibits the hazing of current and prospective members.
