Omicron Delta Kappa seeks to encourage circles to initiate as many members as eligible each year – eligible meaning that members meet the membership requirements and are representative of the wide range of collegiate leadership opportunities found on campus. Membership in our Society is intended to be inclusive. In order to grow and develop as an organization, O∆K needs members at the collegiate and post-collegiate level. It is clear that honor societies across the country are facing a challenge staying relevant in the 21st century. We need circles to initiate more members so that circles have a larger base for programs and services. With more initiated members, we have a larger base of members in the future to support the work of the organization. We must all be acutely aware that when circles initiate fewer members in the present, there are fewer members to serve and financially support the organization in the future.
To this end, we have developed incentives to encourage circles to increase the number of members initiated and to send members to the National Leadership Conference for FY 2020.
Strive for Five Award
If a circle that initiated members in FY 2019 increases its paying collegiate membership by five new members, the circle may select to have its $115 Institutional Membership Fee waived or a $115 discount applied toward the registration fee for a collegiate member to attend the National Leadership Conference. The Strive for Five Award conference registration discount does not apply to circle advisors, faculty, staff, or alumni members.
Faculty/Staff Excellence Award
If a circle initiates four paid faculty, staff, or alumni members, the circle will receive a $100 discount a circle advisor to attend the National Leadership Conference. If a circle advisor can not attend, then a circle faculty/staff member may receive the registration discount. The Faculty/Staff Excellence Award discount does not apply to student members.
Circle Growth Award
If a circle initiates ten more collegiate and faculty/staff members than the average of the last five years, the circle will receive one free collegiate member registration for the National Leadership Conference. The Circle Growth Award discount can not be applied to Institutional Membership Fees or to circle advisors, faculty, staff, or alumni members.
Circle Revitalization Award
If a circle that did not initiate in FY 2019 initiates 30 new paying members (collegiate, faculty, staff, and alumni), the circle will receive one free collegiate member registration for the National Leadership Conference. The Circle Revitalization Award discount can not be applied to Institutional Membership Fees or to circle advisors, faculty, staff, or alumni members.
