Circle Advisor Training Workshop

REGISTRATION IS NOW CLOSED. Thanks to everyone who registered.

NOTICE: We are currently full. If you register at this point, you will be placed on a waiting list.
If someone should cancel in the next few days, we will contact you about taking that spot.

Omicron Delta Kappa deeply recognizes the contribution of circle advisors to the health and viability of our circles. A key focus of OΔK’s 2022-2024 Strategic Plan involves providing more training and support to advisors, as OΔK’s role as a national leadership honor society requires more dedication and involvement from you compared to other advising roles. To support this effort, the Society is offering the Circle Advisor Training Workshop. This 9-hour, two-day program will feature dynamic speakers, opportunities to engage with fellow advisors, and support from the OΔK national headquarters team. You will leave with a deeper understanding of the Society, resources and support to fulfill and enjoy your advising responsibilities, and a new network of colleagues to call on for advice. This event is primarily focused on advisors who are relatively new to the role but is open to more seasoned advisors who feel they could use a refresh.

DATES:  January 7-8, 2022
LOCATION: The Alexandrian Old Town, Alexandria, Virginia (near Reagan National Airport). Attendees will make their own reservations with a block booking number provided after registration. Hotel registration must be made by December 6, 2021.
COST: OΔK will cover the costs for the hotel, meals (Friday evening break and Saturday breakfast and lunch), hotel parking, and materials.
REGISTRATION: Limited to 40 attendees on a first-come, first-served basis
TRANSPORTATION: Attendees must cover their own travel but we offer transportation grants (see below)
EVENT SAFETY PROTOCOL: All attendees must agree to the OΔK Event Safety Protocol. Please read the document before registering (added December 1, 2021)

TRANSPORTATION GRANTS: OΔK understands that many advisors serve in a voluntary capacity, or are working with very limited funds to support their circle. In addition to covering on-site costs for the workshop, OΔK is offering travel grants of up to $250 to advisors who do not have financial support to attend this event. As part of the registration process, advisors can offer details of their need for travel assistance. These grants would be in the form of reimbursement after the workshop. We are allowing up to $250 per circle.

    • If your institutional budget can cover your travel costs, we ask that you not request a travel grant. This will allow OΔK to increase the reach of these travel funds and allow advisors who could otherwise not attend the opportunity to come.

CANCELLATION/NO SHOW FEES: Because OΔK is agreeing to cover the costs of hotel and meals, we are required to provide final numbers 7 calendar days in advance. If an attendee cancels after December 31, 2021, or fails to show, Omicron Delta Kappa will invoice the circle/institution for the full amount of the hotel and meals.  When registering for the program, attendees indicate that they have read this cancellation/no-show clause and agree to its terms.
