About the Circle
Omicron Delta Kappa is a National Leadership Society on our campus and many college campuses. ODK has over 300,000 initiated members and we would like to congratulate our newest members as well as tell you more about our organization!
Congratulations to our newest members: Blake Bosch, Kathryn Dismuke, Jagger Eastman, Sarah Fell, Kate Garrigan, Michelle Gonzalez, Kelsey McGuire, Diane Humphreys, Alyssa McCurry, Jayde Rasband, Brandon Sewell, Harden Spencer, Jeremiah Stone, Rhett Williams and Micah Wright. We also have elected Wesley Smithart as Vice President, and Shirin Torabinejad as President for the 2014-2015 academic year. Congratulations to all! Good luck to our graduated seniors on their future endeavors: Will Davis, Mary Gasson, Zachary Turner, Katie Wachob and Cheyenne Young!
The process of being accepted into ODK is complex but fair. Junior and Senior students who are in the top 35% of their class academically are invited to apply. After applications are completed, students are selected based on their involvement and leadership on campus. The Society recognizes achievement in the following five areas: Scholarship; Athletics; Campus or Community Service; Social or Religious Activities and Campus Government; Journalism, Speech and the Mass Media; and Creative and Performing Arts. Students who are president, captain, or editor of organizations are awarded major points. Any other officer position is considered a minor point. After the points are totaled, students with the highest points are accepted into our society. If you are interested in being accepted, it is very important to hold leadership positions in the coming academic year (especially the highest position in the organization you serve).
