Prospective Members

Are You a Leader?

If you are a leader, our Society is the best organization to recognize your leadership accomplishments and connect you with other individuals who value collaborative and inclusive leadership. O∆K is the oldest leadership honor society and highly selective. Fewer than five percent of students on a campus will be invited to join. Our Society is also unique in that in addition to accepting sophomores, juniors, seniors, graduate, and professional students for membership, we also invite faculty, staff, alumni, and community leaders to join.  Watch our video

Why Join O∆K?

Our members report that the most important reasons to join Omicron Delta Kappa are being recognized nationally for campus leadership and because of the connections to other leaders.

When you first begin the best four years of your life, everyone tells you to get outside of your comfort zone. With OΔK, it felt very genuine. I have met authentic people from all over the US, formed bonds like no other, and truly immersed myself in the experience it has to offer. As a leader in my community, I think I truly connected with fellow peers to listen and provide a voice within the board. They say that you are who you surround yourself with… so thank you, OΔK, for introducing me to the people I admire most.  – Melissa Cancio, Student Vice Chair, Board of Trustees

Prestige and Distinction

The O∆K name or symbol on a resume is instantly recognizable to fellow members as the certification of accomplished collegiate leadership. Our organization is also a member of the prestigious Honor Society Caucus whose other members include Phi Beta Kappa, Phi Kappa Phi, and Sigma Xi. Read the Honor Society Caucus statement about membership.

National Network of Leaders

With more than 340,000 members, the O∆K network spans higher education, business, entertainment, sports, mass media, and many other fields. Read about the notable members who are members of the Society.

Member Benefits

Our Society’s member benefits include the annual National Leadership Conference,  post-baccalaureate scholarships, and internships and other learning experiences. These member benefits make joining the Society a worthwhile investment. In addition to these tangible benefits, read about how the members of our Student Advisory Board describe the value of membership in OΔK.

How Can I Join?

To be accepted into Omicron Delta Kappa, you must meet the class and academic criteria and have demonstrated leadership on your campus or in your community.

Members of O∆K are selected and initiated by the local circles (chapters). Each circle has its own unique process for recruiting and initiating members based on national criteria.

  • If you have received an invitation from your circle, apply for membership.
  • To find out more about the local process, contact the circle on your campus.
  • Information about the initiation ceremony and ritual is located here. The lifetime initiation fee is $94.
