- Courtney A. Berry (Washington and Lee University, 2020) has been named the Old Dominion Athletic Conference’s nominee for the 2021 NCAA Woman of the Year Award.
- Lydia B. Lewis (Huntingdon College, 2021) was recently crowned homecoming queen at her school.
- Harrison P. McKinnis (University of Mississippi, 2020) has received a Phi Kappa Phi scholarship to attend Cornell University for graduate school.
- Matthew Toy (Union College, 2019) has been named to the all-district CoSIDA Academic All American.

- James M. Beeby (West Virginia Wesleyan College, 2003) has been named provost at Keene State College.
- Brock Bloomberg (University of Tampa, 1988) is the new president of the California Institute for Integral Studies. Blomberg was the former president of Ursinus College.
- Megan G. Chan (Ramapo College of New Jersey, 2015) was named NJBIZ (New Jersey Business Journal) Nurse of the Year.
- Linda Perez Clark (Louisiana Tech University, 1986) has been selected as the alumna of the year for the College of Education at Louisiana Tech. Clark is the managing partner of Kean Miller in Baton Rouge.
- Glenn A. Cummings (Ohio Wesleyan University, 1983) is retiring as president of the University of Southern Maine at the end of the academic year.
- Sara Fletcher Harding (Florida Southern College, 2013) has been named the dean of the School of Arts and Sciences at Florida Southern.
- Lillian Hussong (Stockton University, 2011) has been appointed interim president and managing director of The Arctic Institute (Center for Circumpolar Security Studies).
- Ralph E. Johnson (Florida State University, 1982) is the president-elect of the Council for the Advancement of Standards in Higher Education. Johnson is the circle advisor at Washington Adventist University.
- Steven D. Kniffley (University of Louisville, 2007) was given the 2021 Diversity Leadership Award by the Louisville Alumni Association in October.
- Sarah C. Latham (University of Alabama at Birmingham, 1995) has been appointed as the incoming executive vice president for finance and administration at Brown University.
- Benjamin C. Leslie (Samford University, 1978) will be retiring from the position of provost and executive vice president at Gardner-Webb University at the end of this academic year.
- Michael C. Maxey (Roanoke College, 2004), the longtime president at Roanoke, is planning to retire next year
- Samuel P. Menefee (University of Virginia, 1986) has received the Marquis Who’s Who Humanitarian Award.
- G.C. Murray, Jr. (Florida State University, 2011) was recently named Lynn Futch Most Productive Young Lawyer by The Florida Bar Young Lawyers Division.
- Timothy O’Keefe (University of Central Florida, 1987) has been presented with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award by Marquis Who’s Who.
- G. P. “Bud” Peterson (Georgia Institute of Technology, 2009) has been elected as the chair of the board of the Kummer Institute for Student Success, Research, and Economic Development at Missouri University of Science and Technology. Peterson is the former president of Georgia Tech.
- Raymond V. Plaza (Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, 2009) has been elected to the board of the Council for the Advancement of Standards as a member at large for standards.
- Amir Qudaih (University of Massachusetts – Lowell, 2021) has been selected as one of the 30 Under 30 Awardees by the Arab American Foundation. Qudaih is an associate project consultant working on building technologies with Simpson Gumpertz & Heger Inc. in Boston.
- Kevin J. Saghy (Ohio Northern University, 2006) was selected as one of this year’s two William L. Robinson Young Alumni honorees by ONU.
- Harry D. Shapiro (University of Louisville, 1963) was named the Alumni Fellow for the Louis D. Brandeis School of Law at Louisville in October.
- Megan K. Shina (Brevard College, 2018) has been named the alumni director at Brevard.
- Travis R. Smith (Delta State University, 1975) was recently inducted into the Texas Bandmasters Hall of Fame.
- Paul S. Trible, Jr. (Hampden-Sydney College, 1997), this year’s Laurel Crowned Circle Award winner, is retiring next year from the presidency at Christopher Newport University.
- Matthew P. vandenBerg (Alma College, 2001) is the new president at Presbyterian College.
- The Richmond Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America has established the Jeff Wilson Scholarship of Excellence. Wilson is a 1990 initiate of the University of South Carolina – Columbia Circle and was the 1992 National Leader of the Year. He was recently promoted to vice president of workplace culture at Padilla.
- Mark S. Wrighton (Washington University, 1999) has been appointed interim president of George Washington University. He previously served as president of Washington University.
In Memoriam
- Congressman Sherwood L. Boehlert (SUNY Oneonta, 1995) passed away in late September.
- Long-time Florida State University head football coach Robert “Bobby” C. Bowden (Samford University, 1951) died on August 8.
- Russell A. Cargo (Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, 2006) died on October 17. Cargo was one of the primary architects behind the Society’s Campus Leaders Today, Community Leaders Tomorrow (CLT2) program.
- Malcolm A. Cutchins (Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, 1955) died this fall. Cutchins was a long-time advisor to the Auburn University Circle, president of the Virginia Tech Circle when he was a student, and a 2000 recipient of the Eldridge W. Roark, Jr. Meritorious Service Award.
- Noted historian James W. Loewen (SUNY Plattsburgh, 1997) passed away on August 19. Loewen, a sociologist by training and civil rights champion, called for educators and textbook companies to be more forthright about the realities of the pre-and post-Civil War eras in the South.
- Marietta College’s long-time advisor, Gama Perruci, died this summer. A scholarship at Marietta has been set up in his memory.
- Comedian Jeanne S. Robertson (Auburn University, 1990) died on August 24. Jeanne was one of the Society’s Pillars of Leadership in the Arts honorees. In addition to her passion for Auburn, she was also a trustee of Elon University.
