About the Circle
On November 29, 2007, Dean Andristine Robinson, Vice President of Extension for Omicron Delta Kappa, made her official site visit to FAMU where she visited with University leadership team and students to determine the viability of FAMU having a Circle. The Vice President approved the campus was approved to continue in the chartering process.
The chartering activities in April were was a Leadership Lecture, a Circle Social and the faculty/staff volunteering for the Cram Jam. The Florida A&M University Circle was chartered on Saturday, April 19, 2008. Dean Andristine Robinson, National Vice President of Extension presided and Audrey Chisholm, National Student Vice President, was the keynote speaker. James Bland was the charter president. Since the founding in 2008, the FAMU Circle is the only Circle at a HBCU in the state of Florida. The Circle has remained active in the community and initiated over 100 student leaders from SGA, NPHC, service organizations, athletes and scholars in various academic disciplines.
