Hastings College

About the Circle

Former Associate Dean of Students Jeri Haussler and Former Academic Dean Anne Fairbanks were asked to start a circle of ODK here at Hastings College in 1996; our charter was granted in 1997. The then HC President, Dr. Hoover, was national president of the organization.

ODK service projects at HC have included anti-hunger activities, all-campus MLK Day programming (working with MSU}, the Jingle Bell Run for Arthritis, and Grime and Green Day {campus clean-up beautification}. We’ve done a holiday party and children’s book drive with Alpha Chi. Over the years, in addition to top students in each class, faculty and administrators have also been involved. Honorus Causa membership includes astronaut Clayton Anderson.

The Hastings College circle of ODK assists with the service project during the very first weekend of classes (welcome week). They also do a combined book drive and ugly Christmas sweater party with Alpha Chi, and participate in many other all-campus service projects such as the Big Event.
