Over a century ago – actually, 101 years ago today – 15 students and faculty got together and came up with an idea – to establish an organization that brings together members of the campus community to honor and celebrate collegiate leadership across five phases of campus life.
At least initially, that idea became a circle, the Alpha Circle at Washington and Lee University. Three years later, in 1917, the idea had spread to other college campuses. Today, that idea is the foundation of the nation’s premier leadership honor society – Omicron Delta Kappa.
And while we live in an increasingly fast-paced and ever-changing world, Omicron Delta Kappa continues to honor and celebrate collegiate leadership more than a century after our finding.
Now that’s something to celebrate! Happy Founders’ Day!
