After studying biology and serving as a student instructor in the discipline, John Purver Richardson, Jr. went onto become a physician and surgeon after graduating from Washington and Lee University. While enrolled, he was a member of Sigma Chi and also an officer in student government.
Richardson also attended Harvard University and studied education. He also taught at the College of Charleston in South Carolina for a number of years before entering the field of medicine.
He was born in 1892 in Wytheville, Virginia. At the age of 60, he passed away in 1953 in Ellensburg, Washington.
