The “field of 64” (really 68) has been set, and the annual rite of spring known as “March Madness” is upon us. Beginning this evening, men’s college basketball teams will compete through six rounds of tournament play to become national champions.
For sports junkies the proverbial “brackets” have been filled in and each has identified exactly who their own national champion will be. We’ve heard some of the logic in completing your personal bracket: the better mascot, the nicest school colors, the simple seeding (higher beats lower) or, for those who take this a bit more seriously, visiting the thousands of web sites or watching the endless stream of sports television providing their own predictions.
All this is “bracketology.” I took the liberty of completing my own bracket and present it below for your viewing pleasure.
My strategy? Campuses with ODK Circles always win (you should read into that).
My own home campus, for instance, advances through to the final four in my bracket. In the end, Florida takes on Louisville…and Louisville’s had a Circle there longer.
Here’s hoping you enjoy March Madness!
