Meet Steve Bisese, an experienced leader and dedicated member of Omicron Delta Kappa since 1982 who has left an indelible mark on the community. His leadership journey began at the College of William and Mary, where he earned his Bachelor’s degree and was initiated into O∆K. Steve’s career has been characterized by his dedication to mentoring hundreds of students and colleagues on the University of Richmond campus and beyond where he has had a profound impact as the Vice President for Student Development. We congratulate him on his much-deserved retirement and thank him for his leadership and support of Omicron Delta Kappa through the years. In celebration of his years of service, alumni, colleagues, and friends recently established an endowed scholarship in his honor: the Stephen D. Bisese (University of Richmond) Scholarship.
A Legacy of Leadership
Steve’s journey with Omicron Delta Kappa is notable for his extensive service and leadership:
- He has been named the 2024 Omicron Delta Kappa John “Jack” D. Morgan Award for Lifetime Service recipient. The award, named for Executive Director Emeritus Jack Morgan, celebrates a member of the Society who has rendered outstanding and sustained service to Omicron Delta Kappa throughout their life to promote the highest interests of OΔK.
This award honors his 40-year career in student development, with nearly 29 years spent at the University of Richmond, where he has served as the Vice President for Student Development since 2006.
Contributions to OΔK
Steve has been an ardent supporter of Omicron Delta Kappa throughout his career:
- He helped charter the Georgetown College Circle.
- Served as the National Vice President for Extension from 1998 to 2006, helping to establish 51 new circles.
- Served as the National President from 2006 to 2010.
- Volunteered in various roles, including search committee chair and the Board Awards committee.
In 2014, Steve received the Cheryl M. Hogle Distinguished Service Award, honoring his ongoing commitment to OΔK. In 2018, he was inducted as a member of the Five Star Society. In 2019, he was named an emeritus trustee.
