There are a number of ways in which Lifetime Members may support Omicron Delta Kappa and specifically its circles and collegiate members. Your gift of time and talent to our circles will leave a lasting legacy.
Below are descriptions of some ways in which you may directly help a circle.
Faculty/Staff Advisor
Every circle is required to have at least two advisors: a circle coordinator and a faculty advisor. These roles are critical to the ongoing success of every circle. These may be some of the most important volunteer roles in the Society because members are the lifeblood of the organization. Faculty/Staff advisors keep a circle steady through the years as teh student leaders come and go. This can be time-consuming work, but as many long-time advisors know, it is also extremely rewarding.
Alumni Advisor
Alumni advisors are those individuals who assist the faculty advisor, circle coordinator, and student president in the coordination of circle activities. This individual does not need to be a member of the specific circle, but the person must be an initiated member of Omicron Delta Kappa in good standing. Alumni advisors may help coordinate initiation ceremonies, plan service projects, help with circle administrative tasks, or plan circle programs.
Faculty/Staff Circle Support
As a Lifetime Member of Omicron Delta Kappa, you are automatically a member of the circle on the campus where you work as a faculty or staff member. Our most successful circles have members assisting with recruiting, programs, ceremonies, and fundraising who are not advisors. Remember, ODK is a multi-generational organization, and our circles work best when teh Collegiate Members are engaged with experienced Lifetime Members in the business of the circle.
National Circle Advisor
Omicron Delta Kappa will launch the National Circle in the fall of 2023. This is a completely online circle with members from institutions that do not have a circle. The National Circle will operate very much like a campus-based circle, but its programs, ceremonies, and service will be remote. If we learned anything from the Covid-19 pandemic, it is that we can build thriving communities online. We are seeking current ODK Lifetime Members to serve as advisors to the National Circle.
Please be aware that OΔK and campus-based circles may require a background check before being named an advisor to a circle.
