Beginning in 2013, when then National President Mike Christakis (Alfred University, 1998) started the practice, our Society has tried to predict the winner of the NCAA Men’s Basketball Championship by using our own special ODK methodology:
• If one team’s school has a circle and the other school’s team does not, the school with the circle is projected to win.
• If both teams are at institutions with circles, the circle with the earlier founding date is projected to win.
• If neither team is at a school with a circle, the higher seed is projected to win.
According to ODK Bracketology 2022, the Men’s Final Four should come down to:
Davidson (1917) versus Akron (1922) and Richmond (1921) versus Tennessee (1947) – with Davidson beating Richmond in the championship game.
This year, we also decided to take a look at how ODK Bracketology might predict the winner of the NCAA Women’s Basketball Championship. After using the same methodology, the Women’s Final Four should come down to:
South Carolina (1927) versus Ole Miss (1936) and Maryland (1927) versus Kentucky (1925) – with Kentucky beating South Carolina in the final game.
May our brackets (which you can view below) not get BUSTED!
