As an initiate of Omicron Delta Kappa, you hold lifetime membership in our honor society and your achievements will always be recognized. However, looking to the future, we must acknowledge that ΟΔΚ cannot sustainably finance our organization and support our programs and services without diversified revenue. We cannot continue to rely on the fees of student initiates as the primary source of income. For generations, lifetime members have had access to member benefits and services without any requirement to contribute to the Society after the initiation fee.
After careful review and many years of discussion, Omicron Delta Kappa will now ask our members to support the work of the Society through a renewing membership fee. The reactivation fee can be paid annually or through a one-time Legacy Membership payment. The result will be four statuses for our Lifetime Members.

- Active Initiate – As an initiate, you immediately gain access to all membership benefits. Your initiate type (student, faculty/staff, alumni, or honorary) determines when your access to member benefits will expire. For students, it is one year after their date of graduation. For all others, it is one year from the date of initiation. After that, you will need to renew your active status.
- Active Annual – The Annual Membership renewal fee is required to maintain active status and access to benefits and services after the Active Initiate period. Active Annual members receive renewal notices beginning one month before their active expiration date.
- Active Legacy – Becoming a Legacy Member provides you access to OΔK benefits and services for the remainder of your life. The return on your investment in OΔK is just 5 years.
- Inactive – Any member who has not renewed their active status, will be listed as inactive. As such, you are an OΔK member and you will have access to your MyODK profile. Inactive status prevents you from enjoying the many benefits of membership.
Important Transition Dates:
- March 3, 2025: All members initiated before July 1, 2022, will be assigned Active Initiate status. This is so we can transition the records in MyODK to the new statuses.
- May 1, 2025: The payment portal opens for members to activate their Annual or Legacy Membership.
- June 30, 2025: All members who are not recent initiates or have paid their reactivation fee will be moved to inactive status. At that time, access to member benefits including the membership directory will end until reactivation fees are paid.
- July 1, 2025: The MyODK Active Membership program will be fully implemented.
