The national designation honors colleges and universities that demonstrate a strong commitment to supportive, equitable, and sustainable workplace environments for student affairs professionals through meaningful institutional practices and leadership. Colin Anderson has been recognized as a 2026 Best of SFA Award recipient, honoring students who demonstrate excellence in scholarship, leadership, participation, service, and loyalty to the university. A special education senior from Arlington, Anderson has built a strong record of advocacy and leadership across campus, including founding student organizations such as the Texas Association of Future Educators and the Student Council for Exceptional Children. He has served in multiple leadership and support roles at SFA, including resident assistant, student ambassador, orientation advisor, and graphic designer for The Pine Log. Anderson aspires to become an educator and advocate for students with disabilities, with long-term goals of shaping education policy to improve access and support for all learners.

University of West Virginia President, Michael T. Benson, has been recognized with the University of Notre Dame Alumni Association’s Rev. Robert F. Griffin, C.S.C., Award, honoring outstanding achievement in writing. A longtime higher education leader and scholar, Benson’s work explores the development and influence of the American research university and its role in society. His published works include Daniel Coit Gilman and the Birth of the American Research University, named one of the “Best Higher Education Books of 2023,” as well as Harry S. Truman and the Founding of Israel and College for the Commonwealth. A prolific author and contributor to national publications, Benson has written extensively on education, democracy, and public life across a distinguished 30-year career.

Paul Concordia has received the prestigious Henry Barnard Distinguished Student Award, recognizing his academic excellence, leadership, and commitment to service. Graduating with a 3.94 GPA, he is earning a B.S. in social work with a minor in sociology. Concordia serves as a peer support coordinator with the Recovery Network of Programs, where he mentors others and connects individuals to critical resources. A dedicated advocate, he is committed to strengthening systems that support individuals and families facing adversity.
JASON HICKS (University of Tennessee Knoxville)

Jason Hicks has been recognized with multiple leadership honors from the Greensboro Bar Association, including election to its Board of Directors, selection as a fellow of the Greensboro Bar Association Foundation, and induction into the Robert C. Cone Community Involvement Society for the second consecutive year. A deputy county attorney for Guilford County, Hicks is also an active leader nationally, serving with the American Bar Association and Phi Alpha Delta while advancing a strong commitment to public service.

Dr. Kristin J. Homan has been named the 2026 Omicron Delta Kappa Grove City College Professor of the Year, recognizing her excellence in teaching, mentorship, and campus leadership. A professor of psychology, Homan has taught a wide range of courses and guided dozens of students through senior capstone research projects. Known for her enthusiasm, scholarship, and strong connection with students, she exemplifies the award’s commitment to academic excellence, thoughtful advising, and meaningful impact on campus.

Kyra A. Kietrys has been selected as an American Council on Education (ACE) Fellow, joining one of higher education’s premier leadership development programs. Since 1965, the ACE Fellows Program has prepared emerging leaders for senior roles across colleges and universities through immersive leadership experiences, mentorship, and national networking opportunities. As an ACE Fellow, Kietrys will engage with institutional leaders and contribute to mission-critical projects designed to strengthen the future of higher education leadership.

Evey Konstantopoulos has received the University of South Carolina’s Steven N. Swanger Award, which honors an outstanding senior and Omicron Delta Kappa member for significant contributions to the university community. A social work major, Konstantopoulos has served in numerous leadership roles supporting student success, mentorship, and community engagement. Through programs including Pillars for Carolina, University 101, and Gamecock Recovery, she has expanded opportunities for students and demonstrated a strong commitment to service, leadership, and lasting campus impact.

Nicole Maurantonio has been selected as an American Council on Education (ACE) Fellow, joining one of the nation’s premier leadership development programs in higher education. The ACE Fellows Program prepares emerging leaders for senior administrative roles through immersive experiences, mentorship, and collaboration with institutional leaders nationwide. As part of the program, Maurantonio will engage in leadership development opportunities designed to strengthen strategic thinking, expand professional networks, and help shape the future of higher education.

Emma Patton has been named a 2026 Best of SFA Award recipient, recognizing students who demonstrate excellence in scholarship, leadership, service, and campus involvement. A chemistry senior from Wylie, Patton has built a strong foundation in healthcare and student leadership, including experience as a medical assistant in dermatology and active involvement in pre-physician assistant preparation. She serves on the Pre-PA Organization Executive Board and has been recognized for her academic achievement through the STEM Research Excellence Scholarship. Patton is deeply engaged in service across campus and the community, including philanthropy efforts that helped raise significant support for the Family Crisis Center of East Texas. Through Omicron Delta Kappa, she has contributed to youth-focused programming and leadership development initiatives. Patton aspires to pursue physician assistant school and build a career in emergency and family medicine, with the long-term goal of opening her own practice.

Erin Sylvester Philpot has been named one of the Tallahassee Democrat’s 2026 “25 Women You Need to Know,” recognizing her impactful leadership and service in the community. As program director of Leadership Tallahassee, she is dedicated to fostering connection, developing leaders, and strengthening her community. Known for her thoughtful approach and commitment to “making things better,” Philpot continues to inspire and empower the next generation of leaders.
KIM SHINE (Grand Valley State University)

Kim Shine received the 2025 Best Podcast Award from the Wisconsin Broadcasters Association for her work in audio storytelling at Radio Milwaukee. Known for her compelling human-interest reporting, Shine earned the honor for a “Uniquely Milwaukee” episode highlighting We Black We Golf and the organization’s efforts to expand access and build community through the sport. In addition to the winning entry, another podcast episode she produced earned second place, further recognizing her impactful storytelling and journalistic excellence.
HARRISON SIMPSON (Tennessee Technological University)

Harrison Simpson has received Tennessee Technological University’s highest student honor, the Derryberry Award, recognizing outstanding scholarship, leadership, and citizenship. A computer science major, Simpson served as student body vice president and played a key role in strengthening student engagement and campus leadership initiatives. His academic work includes research on cybersecurity and large language model safety, and he plans to pursue graduate studies in cybersecurity. Simpson’s leadership, service, and commitment to innovation have left a lasting impact on the Tennessee Tech community.
