Celebrating Black History Month 2026

In honor of Black History Month, we would like to spotlight some of our outstanding OΔK members!

Denisha S. McPherson
National Circle, 2024

Omicron Delta Kappa proudly recognizes Dr. Denisha McPherson, a dynamic leader whose work bridges technology, education, and service. A Project Management Professional for the State of New York, Dr. McPherson is passionate about expanding access and opportunity at the intersection of innovation and learning. She made history as the Inaugural President of the Sigma Beta Circle of Omicron Delta Kappa, helping establish a lasting foundation for leadership and scholarship.

A lifelong advocate for equity in STEM, Dr. McPherson has been active in the National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE) for more than 25 years and now serves as President Emeritus of the NSBE NYC Professionals chapter and Parliamentarian for the NSBE National Professional Executive Board. Her leadership extends across numerous organizations, including Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., the National Association of Negro Business & Professional Women’s Clubs, the National Society of Leadership and Success, and the Project Management Institute.

Dr. McPherson earned her bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, a master’s degree in Management, and a Doctorate in Law and Policy from Northeastern University. Her achievements have earned national recognition, including the President’s Lifetime Volunteer Service Award and Sports Emmy Awards for her technical work on the Sochi and Rio Olympic broadcasts. Her career reflects a steadfast commitment to mentorship, innovation, and service.


Kimberly A. Moore
Florida State University, 2020

Omicron Delta Kappa proudly recognizes Dr. Kimberly Moore, a nationally respected leader in workforce development, education innovation, and economic mobility. As the Inaugural National Executive Director of the Clean Technology Training Trust, Dr. Moore brings more than 20 years of experience building equitable, industry-aligned talent pipelines that expand opportunity and strengthen communities across the country.

A trailblazer throughout her career, Dr. Moore has often served as the first woman, the first person of color, or both in senior leadership roles. Her commitment to service extends beyond her professional work, with volunteer leadership that includes serving as President of the Chamber of Commerce, chairing regional economic development and research boards, and currently serving as Chair of the National Board of MakerUSA. She is also the founder of Envision Moore Consulting Group and has held executive roles such as Chief Workforce Innovation Officer, Vice President for Workforce Innovation, and CEO.

Dr. Moore’s impact has earned national recognition, including being named one of 100 Entrepreneurs to Know, receiving consecutive Women to Watch honors, and participating in the Aspen Rising President Fellowship. A Hall of Fame honoree at her alma mater and an O∆K honorary member, she has also received multiple Bellwether awards and finalist distinctions. Her leadership continues to shape the future of workforce education and economic advancement nationwide.


Ryan L. Upshaw
University of Mississippi, 2005

Omicron Delta Kappa proudly recognizes Dr. Ryan Upshaw, a dedicated advocate for college access, student success, and leadership development. With nearly 20 years of experience in higher education, he currently serves as Assistant Dean for Student Life at Millsaps College, where he leads initiatives that foster student engagement, belonging, and holistic development. He previously served in multiple student services roles at the University of Mississippi, shaping meaningful experiences for countless students.

Dr. Upshaw has demonstrated exceptional commitment to O∆K through years of service, including his current role as circle coordinator at Millsaps College and previous leadership at the University of Mississippi. He has served on the National Awards Committee, the Board of Trustees, and the National Advisory Council. In recognition of his lasting impact, he received the Eldridge Roark Meritorious Service Award in 2018.

Beyond O∆K, Dr. Upshaw is deeply engaged in community and professional leadership. He serves on the boards of Mississippi Food Network and Big House Books and is a graduate of Leadership Greater Jackson. An active member of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, he was named the organization’s Mississippi Collegiate Chapter Advisor of the Year in 2017. Nationally respected as a leadership facilitator, he works with organizations including LeaderShape and AFLV. His many honors include Mississippi’s Volunteer of the Year (2024) and Millsaps College Student Organization Advisor of the Year (2023).


William D. Wilkerson
Virginia Commonwealth University, 2012

Omicron Delta Kappa proudly recognizes William Wilkerson, a veteran public safety leader whose career reflects a lifelong commitment to service, leadership, and community protection. His leadership journey began in high school through Navy JROTC, where he rose to the rank of Company Commander. He continued his path of service in the U.S. Marine Corps and later the U.S. Air Force, developing the discipline and dedication that would define his career.

With more than 27 years of experience in law enforcement and public safety, Wilkerson currently serves as Chief of Police and Director of Public Safety at Central Virginia Community College. In this role, he leads campus safety operations, emergency management, crime prevention initiatives, and community partnerships. He previously held chief roles at Blue Ridge Community College and served with Virginia Commonwealth University Police and the Richmond Sheriff’s Office.

A dedicated O∆K member since 2012, Wilkerson contributes nationally through service on the Society’s Scholarship and Policy & Procedures Committees and was honored with the Eldridge W. Roark, Jr. Meritorious Service Award in 2022. His professional affiliations include leadership roles with the National Association of Campus Safety Administrators and multiple law enforcement executive organizations. Through mentorship, training, and community engagement, Wilkerson continues to model the values of leadership, scholarship, and service.
