Many hands make light work. Most of the volunteer opportunities in OΔK take only a few hours once or twice a year. If your time is limited, but you still want to serve the Society, consider any one of these ways to be a national volunteer.
Scholarship Reviewer
Each year, Omicron Delta Kappa receives more than 200 applications for its post-baccalaureate scholarships. Individuals who have the time to review and rank 20 applications are encouraged to apply to be a reviewer. The work of the reviewers takes place in April and May each year.
National Award Reviewer
Omicron Delta Kappa presents as many as 25 awards each year. The National Awards Committee, DEI Committee, and the Board of Trustees Awards Committee are charged with reviewing applications and nominations for these awards. Many of the awards need reviewers to assist the committees in making the final decision. This is a great way to serve the society in a short but meaningful way.
National Day of Giving Champion
Our volunteers who support the National Day of Giving (May 4, 2023) are those who help champion annual contributions to Omicron Delta Kappa and act as social media ambassadors by posting about the reasons why they support O∆K on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter. Use the hashtag #ODKGiving, post photos of one’s leadership journey, and share with O∆K’s National Headquarters (odknhdq@odk.org).
National Day of Service Champion
Omicron Delta Kappa recognizes the service of our members and circles each year on the 2nd Thursday in April on the National Day of Service. We need National Day of Service champions to help us get the word out about the day, assist with social media, and plan special recognition for the service our members provide throughout the year.
Educational Program Specialist
ODK recognizes and develops leaders. As we expand the leadership development programs we offer, we need volunteers to create and facilitate them. If you are an experienced instructor, facilitator, or educational content creator, then you can help us build and present programs such as the Stone Ethical Leadership Challenge and the Circle Advisor Training Workshop.
Photographer
The National Headquarters team is always in search of pictures to be included in our publications, website, and social media platforms. If you have a good eye for capturing O∆K members in action, please let us know and help build an inventory of images that can showcase the good work done by our collegiate members in print and online.
Writer for O∆K Communications
As a volunteer, you can help O∆K by writing for The Circle (our magazine) or our website and by contributing blog posts. Feature articles, reflection pieces on leadership, book reviews, and news announcements are all welcome contributions. O∆K generally follows the Associated Press style guide for content.
O∆K accepts volunteer applications for each of these positions throughout the year.
