Meet Silas W. Kelly (Adelphi University, 2013) Silas is a beacon of inspiration in the social work and media communities. Inducted into the Adelphi University Circle of O∆K in 2013, Silas has since made remarkable strides as a social worker and media professional.

Silas is the founder of Kelsunn Communications, a 501(c)(3) non-profit media, marketing, and PR organization. Under this umbrella, he produces and hosts the award-winning “Kelsunn-on-the-Air Social Work Podcast,” available in both video (YouTube & Spotify) and audio formats. This podcast has garnered significant recognition, winning 1st and 3rd place in 2023 at the annual Press Club of Long Island Media Awards Dinner.

His journey from foster care to becoming a licensed social worker is nothing short of inspiring. Newsday featured his story in their “Faces of Long Island” special, which highlights his dedication and achievements in social work.

Silas’s contributions to social work have not gone unnoticed. He received the International Rhoda G. Sarnat Award from the National Association of Social Workers Foundation (NASWF) for significantly advancing the public image of professional social work.

As a professionally trained broadcast journalist and social worker, Silas has made an indelible mark in media and podcasting. His “Kelsunn On-The-Air” Social Work Podcast is celebrated globally, listed as one of the “40 Best Social Work Podcasts You Must Follow” by Feedspot.com. The podcast, available on platforms like Apple, Spotify, Google, and Amazon, has earned multiple awards, including the Communicator Award of Distinction from the Academy of Interactive and Visual Arts.

In addition to his media accomplishments, Silas has been an active member of the National Association of Social Workers (NASW) NY State Chapter since 2011, serving in various leadership roles, including Suffolk Division Director and V.P. of the NY State Chapter. His dedication extends to his local community, where he volunteers at Zion Gospel Church in Copiague, NY, as a Youth Mentor, Food Pantry Worker, and Director of the Media Ministry.

Silas W. Kelly exemplifies the values of Omicron Delta Kappa through his unwavering commitment to social work, media excellence, and community service. We are proud to spotlight Silas as a distinguished member whose work continues to inspire and impact lives both locally and internationally.
